Its all part of the 40th anniversary of ELO, whove sold 50 million-plus records worldwide. These releases will all feature new packaging and the LIVE CD will come in a special ecobook edition.

ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA LIVE hasnt been issued as an album until now. Taken from a 2001 performance for a PBS television special in Los Angeles at CBS Television City, the music was released as a DVD that year. The new hits-packed CD offers fans four tracks that werent on the DVD ("Secret Messages", "Sweet Talkin Woman", "Twilight", and "Confusion") as well as two new, unreleased studio tracks, Out of Luck (recorded in 2010) and Cold Feet (recorded in 1992). Although the singularly accomplished British singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer has always preferred the creative experience of the recording studio, he is a compelling performer whos always figured out ways to bring his distinctive widescreen musical universe to life onstage when he needed to.

ELOs ZOOM--unavailable for over 10 years--has been remastered and features a brand new track, "One Day" (recorded in 2004) as an added bonus, along with a live version of Turn To Stone from 2001s ZOOM special on PBS. At the time of its original release in 2001, LYNNE hadnt issued an ELO album since 1986s Balance of Power. He called upon notable friends for a little help, enlisting contributions from longtime ELO member Richard Tandy as well as good friends George Harrison and Ringo Starr. The result is an album rich in that distinct ELO sound--classic LYNNE melodies and songwriting, foot-stomping rock anthems and sweet, sexy strings.

LYNNEs first solo album, 1990s ARMCHAIR THEATRE, is a melting pot of different styles and influences featuring unexpected collaborations with LYNNEs heroes and close friends, including Tom Petty, Richard Tandy and George Harrison. This reissue, unavailable for the last decade, includes two previously unreleased bonus tracks, and (both recorded in 1989). Interestingly, the album also features a few notable covers--t Let Go, Stormy Weather and September Song--that demonstrated LYNNEs flair for covers two decades before the release of 2012s acclaimed Long Wave. Suitably, the core of the album is LYNNE himself, though he also left room for the contributions of a few friends and fellow travelers. Harrison contributed guitars and vocals on a number of tracks. Petty co-wrote Blown Away, a gorgeously romantic ballad. Longtime ELO band member Richard Tandy also contributed on keyboards and other instruments. ARMCHAIR THEATRE captures the musical genius of JEFF LYNNE when--perhaps more than ever before--the world was his stage.

Outside of the success of ELO, LYNNE has led a remarkable career producing and collaborating with many of the greatest musical artists of all time. They include a number of LYNNEs all-time heroes like Roy Orbison, Del Shannon, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and remarkably, even the Beatles themselves, as well as contemporaries like Tom Petty and Joe Walsh, whose new album Analog Man LYNNE recently produced some tracks for. Together with Harrison, Orbison, Petty and Bob Dylan, LYNNE was, of course, a member of the Grammy award-winning Traveling Wilburys--a super group like no other. ve been in love with music since I was probably just five years old, says LYNNE. I was mad for music then--and I still am today.

Track listings:

ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA LIVE: Evil Woman, Showdown, Secret Messages, Livin Thing, Sweet Talkin Woman, Mr. Blue Sky, Cant Get It Out Of My Head, Twilight, Confusion, Dont Bring Me Down, Roll Over Beethoven, Out of Luck (Bonus), Cold Feet (Bonus)

ZOOM: Alright, Moment in Paradise, State of Mind, Just for Love, Stranger on a Quiet Street, In My Own Time, Easy Money, It Really Doesnt Matter, Ordinary Dream, A Long Time Gone, Melting in the Sun, All She Wanted, Lonesome Lullaby, One Day (Bonus), Turn to Stone (Live From CBS Television City) (Bonus)

Listen to two snippets from the album here.

ARMCHAIR THEATRE: Every Little Thing, Dont Let Go, Lift Me Up, Nobody Home, September Song, Now Youre Gone, Dont Say Goodbye, What Would It Take, Stormy Weather, Blown Away, Save Me Now, Borderline (Bonus), Forecast (Bonus)

Listen to a snippet from the album here.

From www.elo.biz
Tue, 19 Feb 2013 10:30:00 -0800http://www.elo.biz/news/130471Mr. Blue Sky: The Story of Jeff Lynne & ELO, Coming to iTunes 12/18/12

Get the film at iTunes here

Available for the first time, the 90-minute feature documentary, Mr. Blue Sky: The Story of Jeff Lynne & ELO, will be released via iTunes Tuesday, December 18.

The film is not just an illuminating and entertaining new documentary about one of popular musics greatest stories never told. BLUE SKY - THE VERY BEST OF ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA

Today (9/21) JEFF LYNNEs new video for Mercy, Mercy--the first track from his upcoming album LONG WAVE, out October 9 on Frontiers Records--has exclusively premiered at Rollingstone.com. Shot at his Los Angeles home studio thats known as Bungalow Palace Studios, the Martyn Atkins-directed clip features none other than The Jeffs, a composite of four simultaneous images of the iconic British artist playing acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass and drums, as he did on the recording of the album. The clip can be viewed here

JEFF LYNNEthe legendary founder of ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA and collaborator and producer of many greats including The Beatles, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Tom Petty, Joe Walsh and morerecently made a rare appearance at The Grammy Museum in downtown Los Angeles (9/12) in advance of the October 9 release of two albums on Frontiers Records: the solo disc LONG WAVE, a heartfelt and vivid tribute to some of the very songs that originally inspired him, and MR. BLUE SKYTHE VERY BEST OF ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA. The evenings program included a screening of Reel to Reel: Mr. Blue Sky: The Story of Jeff Lynne and ELO and a discussion/Q&A about the film, moderated by Vice President of the GRAMMY Foundation and MusiCares, Scott Goldman. LYNNEs friends on hand included Tom Petty and guitarist Mike Campbell, Joe Walsh, Olivia Harrison, musician Gary Wright and drummer Jim Keltner.

Meanwhile, LYNNEs illuminating and entertaining documentary Mr. Blue Sky: The Story of Jeff Lynne and ELO gets to the heart of who JEFF LYNNE is and how he has had such a tremendous musical influence on our world. The answer--as told by the British artist himself and such distinguished collaborators and friends of JEFF as Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Tom Petty, Joe Walsh, Olivia and Dhani Harrison, Barbara Orbison and Eric Idle--is that LYNNE is a true man of music for whom the recording studio is his greatest instrument.

The release of LONG WAVE and MR. BLUE SKYTHE VERY BEST OF ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA mark the 40th anniversary of ELO. LYNNEs legacy will further be celebrated with releases in 2013 including ELO Live! plus expanded reissues of the ELOs 2001 album Zoom and LYNNEs first solo album in 1990, Armchair Theater.

LONG WAVE powerfully celebrates the music of a time when LYNNEs lifelong passion for music began, evoking an era back when old standards were just giving way to rock & roll. He somehow makes pre-rock standards like Bewitched, Bothered And Bewildered, and Love Is A Many Splendored Thing--along with a few of his favorite gems from the Sixties such as the first single Mercy, Mercy, Let It Rock and So Sad--his own with these loving versions. LYNNEs deeply felt and musically brilliant one-man-band takes add up to an inspired love letter to music itself--and an exquisite reflection of the way songs grace and change our lives.

MR. BLUE SKYTHE VERY BEST OF ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA is a powerful testament to LYNNEs enduring artistry and his singular desire to get things right once and for all. Featuring such classics as Evil Woman, t Bring Me Down, Thing and Mr. Blue Sky, the result is, in effect, a kind of showdown between JEFF LYNNE today and his extremely illustrious past, and thanks to improved technology and recording artistry, LYNNE somehow comes out on top again. Its a fresh chance to hear these extraordinary songs sounding sharper and clearer than the old versions. There was a big reason I wanted to re-record these ELO songs, says LYNNE. When I listen to the old versions they dont sound the way I thought they did when I first wrote and recorded them. I wanted to use the experience Ive gained producing records ever since and have a completely new try at them. Im not saying the old versions arent good; I like them very much. We were doing our best, but experience and technology also play a big a big part, and these new ones sound much more solid and tight.

From www.elo.biz
Fri, 21 Sep 2012 17:21:00 -0700http://www.elo.biz/news/98751Preview All 12 Tracks From Mr. Blue Sky!
Now available for your listening pleasure - Previews of all 12 tracks from the upcoming release "Mr. Blue Sky - The Very Best of Electric Light Orchestra.

Click here to give them a listen.

From www.elo.biz
Fri, 31 Aug 2012 16:10:00 -0700http://www.elo.biz/news/94961JEFF LYNNE’S FIRST SOLO ALBUM IN 20 YEARS SLATED FOR RELEASE

Jeff Lynnes timeless new album Long Wave is a stirring, heartfelt and vivid tribute to some of the very songs that first taught this legendary singer-songwriter the awesome power of music in our lives.

The radiant songs revisited here helped turn on an electric light in young Jeff Lynne that continues to burn as brightly today as ever.
